1st Leg – The Yachtsman’s Cruise – 26 Dec 2019 to 1st January, 2020

The first leg of your journey aboard the 72-passenger, Coral Discoverer is a 6-night Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race special, followed by a 7-night discovery cruise of Tasmania’s south and east coast wilderness areas.

Cruise past Barrenjoey Headland along Sydney’s Northern Beaches to just off North Head, for a grand stand view of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race start, before trailing the yachts on a scenic coastal cruise to Hobart.

As you cruise, our guest lecturers will present commentary on the race and lectures on yachting and maritime history.

Visit Jervis Bay and Twofold Bay en-route and once across Bass Strait, explore the magical Tasmanian coast and islands. Visit Adventure Bay on Bruny Island and stretch your legs on the Fluted Cape walk.

Arrive into Hobart on New Year’s Eve, to join the festivities of race presentations and the launch of Tasmania’s summer Taste festival.

Return to the Coral Discoverer for a special New Year’s Eve captain’s dinner and to enjoy the festivities from our prime harbour viewing point.

2nd Leg – Tasmania’s Pristine Wilderness – 1st to 8th January 2020

On January 1st, set sail on the second leg of the journey, an authentic expedition voyage of Tasmania’s wild coastline to experience:

  • Vestiges of Tasmania’s indigenous, maritime, penal and pioneering heritage
  • Pristine waters, ancient forests, secret coves and rugged dolomite crags
  • Abundant and unique wildlife – both at sea and on land
  • Tasmania’s World Heritage wilderness area, unreachable by land, destination remote Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour.

Wineglass Bay, Freycinet National Park Tasmania

Become enchanted by Tasmania’s breathtaking National Parks; from the perfect circular formation of Wineglass Bay, to the dramatic peaks of pink granite at Freycinet Peninsula, or the remote wildlife haven of Maria Island National Park.

If conditions allow,  spend two days exploring the untouched Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area at Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour. Normally only accessible by seven-day hike or light aircraft, this region is undoubtedly one of the most pristine and beautiful landscapes on earth.

The flexible itinerary enables the Captain to respond to weather conditions, ensuring you enjoy a complete and memorable expedition no matter what the conditions. In the spirit of adventure, guests will be advised the day prior where their next adventure lies – perhaps an Oyster Farm, a coastal walk, or even a seal colony basking in the sunlight.
