Itinerary

Day 1 | Zurich or Geneva
Travel by rail in first class from any Swiss border or from Zurich/Geneva airport or rail station to Zurich or Geneva. Consider taking an optional Zurich excursion. Overnight in Zurich or Geneva.

Day 2 | Zurich to Lucerne 
Take the train to Lucerne. On arrival check-in to your hotel and in the afternoon enjoy this historic city at your leisure with its famous wooden bridge, some shopping, the old town and the Lion monument. Overnight in Lucerne. (B)

Day 3 | Lucerne 
Day at leisure. We recommend an optional excursion to any of the following mountain tops:

  • Mount Titlis – Titlis Rotair, Ice Flyer Chairlift,
    Glacier Park & Cave
  • Mount Pilatus – The Golden Round Trip
  • Mount Rigi – Queen of the Mountains

Day 4 | Lucerne to St Moritz 
Today your rail journey takes you to one of the most famous Swiss holiday resorts – St Moritz. St Moritz is the original Swiss winter holiday resort, an fashionable mountain town world-famous for its skiing, fantastic scenery and its relaxing spas.

Day 5 | St Moritz to Zermatt 
Today you board the Glacier Express which is one of the greatest train journeys in the world! You travel from St.Moritz to Zermatt, on a 7½ hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2’033 metres in altitude. Travel in comfort through the beauty of a landscape rich in mountain forests, alpine meadows, mountain streams and valleys, soaked in tradition and centuries old culture. Overnight in Zermatt. (B)

Day 6 | Zermatt – Gornergrat Excursion
Ride the rack-railway, the Gornergrat Bahn from Zermatt, Europe’s highest open-air cogwheel railway, takes you up to the Gornergrat 9.3km away. On the viewing platform you are surrounded by 29 peaks rising to above 4000m including views of the majestic Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and other spectacular summits!

Day 7 | Zermatt to Geneva/Zurich 
Depending on your choice of destination, take the train to Visp and change trains bound for Geneva or Zurich. Overnight in Geneva or Zurich. (B)

Day 8 | Depart Geneva/Zurich 
Depart Geneva or Zurich for Swiss border or international airport or rail station or alternatively continue your stay in Switzerland. (B)
